France to ban disposable e-cigarettes
French Prime Minister Elizabeth Borne said in an interview with Luxembourg Radio and Television on the 3rd that France will soon ban the sale of disposable electronic cigarettes in France.
"Tobacco kills 75,000 people a year [in France], which is a huge number," Borne said, according to multiple media reports.
The government will soon introduce a new national plan to reduce tobacco consumption, including banning disposable e-cigarette".
Such e-cigarettes "are one of the important reasons that attract young people to smoke". She did not specify when the ban would take effect.
According to the Associated Press, the price of disposable e-cigarettes in France is usually between 8 and 12 euros, and there are a variety of fruity flavors, which are especially attractive to young people.
Although France currently has laws that prohibit the sale of e-cigarettes to minors, it has not been well implemented.
